Borabu MP Ben Momanyi has denied allegations that he played a role in the appointment of his political rival Patrick Osero to the Tourism Finance Corporation.
Rumours have been doing rounds in the constituency that Momanyi wanted to avoid stiff competition in next year's general election and so opted to get Osero a state job.
Osero was one of the beneficiaries of President Uhuru Kenyatta's recent parastatal appointments where he was named the chairperson of the Tourism Finance Corporation.
Speaking Wednesday to this writer, Momanyi denied the allegations saying he was not aware of Osero's appointment until it was gazetted and announced.
“I only became aware of Patrick Osero's appointment a chair of the Tourism Finance Corporation after it was gazetted and announced by the President. Those saying that I initiated his appointment for fear of political competition from him are wrong. The decision on who becomes area MP is with the people of Borabu and not an individua," he said.
He said if the people of Borabu feel that he has not done anything for them, he cannot force them to vote for him.
"I believe the people know my development record in Borabu and I know they will need me once more to serve them," he said.
“I urge the residents to remain united and avoid being misled by false information. Osero is a friend to the Deputy President and other senior government officials so all those allegations are no true let our people know the reality,” he concluded.
