The newly formed Jubilee Party lacks inclusivity from among Kenyan communities and should be shunned for the sake of integration, Borabu parliamentary hopeful Nyandoro Kambi has said.

On Wednesday during an interview with this reporter, Kambi also faulted the amalgamation of Jubilee Party affiliates terming it a blow to democracy.

“The Jubilee Party is tribal because it has a support base from two regions predominated by two communities. It’s not inclusive and they know that. The party is a threat to national cohesion and Kenyans should not  vote for it,” he said.

“It was wrong to merge parties because it limits democratic space of free competition in a political environment. This is a party that should be avoided like a plague. You’d rather be an independent candidate that competes for a party that is purely founded on region-based ideologies,” he said.

However, Kambi’s remarks were downplayed by Jomo Kenyatta Foundation chair Walter Nyambati who termed JP as a party of all Kenyans.

“They normally say the party has roots in Central and Rift Valley which isn’t the case. The party has a presence in all parts of the country and that will be manifested in the 2017 polls,” he said.

Jubilee Party was launched early September and received a host of leaders who had defected from parties.
