Residents of Borabu Constituency have pleaded with the county government of Nyamira to rectify the deteriorating standards of roads especially Riamanoti-Matutu road.
Speaking on Monday in the constituency, the residents expressed their dissatisfaction with the poor condition of the road stating it has brought their agricultural business to a standstill.
They claim Governor John Nyagarama had promised to improve the road but the road remains in a devastating state, two years after he took office.
Besides connecting the Kisii-Nairobi highway, the 15Km road, is used by farmers to transport their farm produce to nearby towns
“The condition is worsening daily due to the ongoing heavy rains and something urgent should be done,” said Timothy Omariba.
“We expected that the governor would expedite the construction because he comes from this region. But we hope he will find a solution to it because it is affecting our farming business because we can no longer transport produce,” added Raymond Aminga.
They were unanimous that the situation, if not rectified will force them to protest by planting banana plants on the road to ensure no one uses it.
“There are always many remedies to these situations. The governor should hurry up and repair the road or we will embarrass him by planting bananas on the road and paralyse transportation,” said Victor Anyieni.
