The two groups constitute women from Nyansiongo, Esise and Mekenene wards and will be the first to benefit from the recently launched Women Representative kitty.

In an exclusive interview with the reporter ahead of Monday’s activity, Chae challenged women to join groups for easy help from political establishments.

“I have a vision to help our women but that is only possible if they form groups for easy help. As their leader, I am determined to support their social-economic activities,” Mrs. Chae said.

“I have a programme for all five sub counties and my intention is to help at least two women groups per ward. I will start in Borabu (Nyansiongo and Esise) and the programme will go all the way to other regions. The groups will receive a total of Sh600,000 we want women to be properly empowered to challenge the social-economic status quo,” she added.

The former Egesa presenter also challenged Gusii community to gang up against Female Genital Mutilation which is often practiced in the region.

“Female Genital Mutilation is another area I want us to work closely to eradicate. It has no place in our society as a leader, I am ready to work with people of good will to bring sanity to our Gusii community,” she said.

Chae is also expected to make stop overs on Tuesday in Kitutu Masaba constituency where she will visit a number of youths and women leagues.
