A crisis in Raila Odinga’s Nyamira campaigns is looming with ODM national treasurer Timothy Bosire and Governor John Nyagarama’s relationship dwindling following the outcome of party primaries.
Nyagarama beat West Mugirango MP James Gesami in ODM primaries even though the latter disputed the outcome and subsequently bolted out of the party to run for governorship as an independent.
But recently, Bosire, who is the party’s supremo from the region, apologized to supporters over ‘shoddy’ nominations which were presided over by the governor.
“Our primaries were poorly run and we know those who were behind. Supporters did not get a chance to elect leaders of their choice,” Bosire said a week ago.
“He added: “There are many options and maybe locals will choose leaders of their choice. The opinion of the people shall carry the day.”
And the sentiments have not gone down well with Nyagarama, who is set to head Odinga’s campaigns in the region.
“Let us accept the outcome and move on. We don’t have to cry foul all the time,” Nyagarama said on Tuesday in a statement indirectly targeting Bosire.
Bosire will be seeking a reelection in Kitutu Masaba and will run on an ODM ticket with Nyagarama flying governorship in the region.
