Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire has hit out at President Uhuru Kenyatta over CS Amina Mohamed's candidature for the AUC chairperson.
Bosire accused Uhuru of using millions of taxpayers money on foreign trips to seek support for the CS, adding that her candidature was the 'president's personal project'.
“This was Uhuru’s personal investment. It was never a Kenyan candidature,”said Bosire.
Speaking during a telephone interview with the Star on Wednesday, Bosire said the loss restricted Jubilee's "failed and poorly driven" foreign policy, adding that the CS could have done well if the President had not personalised the issue.
“Some countries were definitely uncomfortable with a chair working at whims of a partisan President perpetuating impunity,” he said.
The vocal MP said the project was not worth all the effort, considering the CS lost to Chad's Moussa Mahamat in the seventh round.
“Given the heavy investment by the state and the embarrassing outcome, the investment was not worthwhile,” he added.
According to the daily, the money spent, including on Deputy President William Ruto's chattered private plane was not factored into the current financial year.
However, National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale defended the budget, saying the President's delegation did not regret the amount of money spent lobbying for Amina's candidature.
