Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire has labeled Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission ‘dead institution’ and backed efforts by the opposition to have the commission disbanded.
The opposition held a mass demonstration that was later on dispersed by the police on Monday as their calls for disbandment of the commission intensifies.
Speaking to the reporter on Tuesday, Bosire said the commission had lost credibility by allegedly taking sides in electoral process and warned of possible chaos in 2017 polls.
“This commission is no longer independent but a dead institution that is taking sides. The country cannot afford to go to any polls under the supervision of a compromised institution,” Bosire said.
“It must be disbanded for the sake of saving the nation from possible chaos in 2017 elections. They are biased and basically openly supports the government by discrediting Cord,” he said.
He accuse the commission of ‘working hard’ to defend the government from incompetence in real issues, citing the collapsed Okoa Kenya bill and the major reason for their push to have the commission reconstituted.
“Some individuals in the commission are out to dismantle opposition by working with government. They never gave us justifiable reasons why they opted to fizzle out Okoa Kenya initiative which had backing from entire country,” he said.
Bosire said they will not tire going to streets to forcefully eject the commission for the sake of promoting peace and tranquility in the country.
“Even the clergy has already seen how the commission is incompetent. As Cord, nothing will stop us from pushing for their ouster using all means. We cannot be held hostage by irresponsible commission,” he said.
