President Uhuru Kenyatta is free to visit Kitutu Masaba constituency to initiate economic projects despite the region’s strong association with the Opposition Cord, MP Timothy Bosire has stated.
Bosire who is the ODM national Treasurer has been engaged in tough battles with the Jubilee government over what he calls discrimination and the rivalry saw Uhuru snub the region during his April tour to Nyamira County this year.
Speaking at Mosobeti Primary on Monday, Bosire welcomed the Head of State to visit the region but insisted that the move won’t make him change his political ideologies and relationship with the Jubilee administration.
“The President is free to visit any region, Kitutu Masaba inclusive. He hasn't toured the area and hopefully he will come soon. He is in office to serve all regions without discrimination so I am always ready to receive him and tell him where his government has been going wrong,” he said.
Bosire added: “the Constitution guarantees that all regions receive equal share of development and his visit won’t make me change my political stand. We have freedom to differ ideologically but when it comes to development, we must tolerate each other.”
The outspoken MP also seized the opportunity to thank residents for the ‘exceptional’ solidarity they showed him when he was arrested over alleged hate speech.
“I am particularly grateful for the overwhelmingly support you showed me when I was in detention and I will always remain thankful,” he said.
