A video clip circulating on social media shows a man succumbing to pressure by police officers being beaten mercilessly during Cord's anti-IEBC protest.

The man, identified as Ben Ngatia, succumbed to injuries on Tuesday.

Bosire on Tuesday condemned the police officers involved in brutal attack on unarmed demonstrators and called for sacking of those involved.

“The demonstrations were very peaceful and it was in accordance to article 37 of the constitution. It’s sad that police officers can take law into their own hands and beat innocent people should their dissatisfaction against a failed electoral body,” Bosire said.

“I want to challenge the IG and IPOA to take action against officers who were captured beating innocent people. This isn’t a lawlessness state and people’s rights must be respected at all costs. It’s annoying that we are being taken to those dark days where people can’t speak their minds,” he said.

He said police officers' actions were setting a bad precedence contrary to police reforms that the country had invested hugely in.

“Police officers are there to protect citizens and it worries that they have turned to beating and vandalising people’s rights. We expect them to give unarmed demonstrators security because those are the reforms the country invested in. We want to see those involved in the ugly scenarios on Monday arrested and arraigned in court for disciplinary action,” he said.
