Outspoken Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire has challenged both local and international community to respect freedom of press by embracing members of the fourth estate.
Bosire’s remarks come barely a day after a section of local journalist from Nyamira County was allegedly manhandled by county officials during Jamhuri Day celebrations in Gesima.
In a message of ‘Bosire Reloaded Whatsap Group’, the Orange Democratic Movement National Treasurer condemned the incident and urged investigative agencies to handle the matter.
“It is so sad that in this era people who enlighten the society by exposing our deeds are manhandled. Freedom of press must be respected at all costs,” he said.
“Those who were involved should be brought to book to serve as an example to the rest. We want a society that respects freedom of others without prejudices,” he added.
Similar calls were made by Kenya Union of Journalist (KUJ) official Nyambega Gisesa who urged leaders to be tolerant of the press.
