A member of parliament from Kitutu Masaba has appealed to area police to apprehend the youth who have been planting bananas in major roads as a way of protesting their poor conditions.
Timothy Bosire made the call on Wednesday after a section of youth from Moturumesi area yet again executed the same act even after authorities had warned them earlier on this year.
According to him, the youths were being incited by his perennial competitor’s to cause the havoc as a way of belittling his development records yet he says he has done his part of informing the Ministry of Roads about the deteriorating road conditions in the region.
“We all know that some of the roads are impassible and I have done my part as the area MP. It is unjustified for them to plant bananas and worsen the condition. I want to urge the police to investigate the matter and bring culprits to book,” he said.
He urged area youth to desist from being ‘hired’ by politicians who were after settling their political scores against him and defended his development record in the region.
“I have been doing my job perfectly and it’s therefore discouraging for youths to be hired to taint my development record. Some of these roads like Magombo-Moturumesi are under the jurisdiction of national government and I am working hard to see that the condition is fixed,” he said.
Bosire said he will ensure the youth responsible for the havoc are apprehended and arraigned in court to face charges of incitement and destruction of government property.
