Kenya is in need of a caretaker government, former Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire has said.
Bosire, who is ODM National Treasurer, said Jubilee and NASA, with the help of eminent people nominated by the international community and key local stakeholders, should form an interim government to organise and conduct a fresh general election.
In an opinion piece published by the Standard, the former lawmaker said IEBC, as currently constituted, cannot be trusted with conducting a credible poll.
"Now that the Supreme Court has indicted IEBC for committing irregularities and illegalities in the management of the August 8 elections, it is very clear that it is too compromised to win back public confidence. As such, the institution needs a major cleaning up to be able to manage any other election," he wrote.
The ODM official added: "This drives us to the urgent need for the creation of a transitional, six-month caretaker government with a strict mandate to prepare the country for free and fair elections."
Bosire said a transitional government is the only viable option now that will protect Kenyans from 'possible implosion.'
"It is an important Constitution tool and safeguards that must always be carried in case of anarchy," the ex-MP noted.
