Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery and Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet will be sued for contempt of court on Monday following failure to reinstate security details attached to Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire.
High Court Judge Isaac Lenaola on Monday last week ordered immediate reinstatement of MP’s guards on grounds that the government’s decision had infringed the MP’s fundamental rights.
Speaking to the reporter on Monday on phone, Bosire confirmed instructing his lawyers to move to court after the government failed to honor the court’s decision.
“I am yet to get my security details even after my lawyers served the CS and IG with a court order on Thursday. The government must be held responsible for ignoring court orders,” Bosire said.
“My lawyers; James Orengo and Stephen Lugunya will sue the CS and IG today (Monday) for contempt of court. We want a country where the rule of law is respected and as a law abiding citizen, I am using court channels to demand for my rights,” added Bosire who also doubles as ODM National Treasurer.
He accused the government of intimidation and challenged Jubilee coalition to accept divergent opinions from all Kenyans.
“Its high time the government stopped intimidating opposition MPs. We are entitled to our freedom of speech and we cannot be victimized simply because Jubilee doesn’t agree with our stand,” he added.
Bosire hit headlined during the state of the nation address by President Uhuru Kenyatta when he defied the Presidents order to sand in honor of soldiers who had died early this year in Somalia.
