A row over the status of the corridor settlements of Biyaad, Balatul Amin Elyunis, Elnur and Anole has continued to divide leaders from Wajir.
The Jubilee team headed by gubernatorial aspirant Mohammed Abdi claims the settlements are in Tarbaj despite current maps showing they are in Aldas.
The recent gazette notice issued by the Jubilee administration in the creation of new administrative units did not favour Aldas constituency which did not get any new sub county.
The gazette notice transferred the administration of Anole to Tarbaj Sub County and Bagalla location to Wajir West.Equally, there was no sub location that was created at Aldas according to Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery’s directive to create the units. Twenty three [23] locations and 39 sub locations were created in Nkaissery’s gazette.
Residents of Aldas are now not happy with their MP, Adan Keynan, a key Jubilee politician in Wajir because he did not influence the creation of new administrative units in his constituency.
During a recent meeting in Wajir town, Jubilee leaders postponed a decision on the status of the Elnur-Anole corridor and a team constituted to handle the issue. A report from the team is yet to be submitted.
The issue is said to be so emotive that Keynan is said to be opting out of Abdi’s campaign team. The long time MP according to the Wajir Tribune is preparing to focus on his campaign as he seeks to return to Parliament.
Mohammed ever since he was directly issued with the Jubilee Party certificate has been close to Keynan but the boundary issue could be drifting the two leaders apart.
