Nominated MP Isaac Mwaura has urged Nairobi gubernatorial hopeful Peter Kenneth to bow out of the race after the latter lost the Jubilee Party ticket in the just concluded party primaries.
Kenneth lost to Senator Mike Sonko, but has since announced his re-entry into the race for the city's top seat as an independent candidate.
But in a Facebook post published on Mwaura's official page on Sunday, the lawmaker noted that Kenneth's decision to gun for governorship was "ill-advised", urging the 2013 presidential candidate to shelve his ambitions.
"Peter Kenneth, there is great wisdom in knowing when to fight and when to bow out of the race. Sonko is our candidate. He may have his flaws but when the contest is over, we all rally behind our nominee," Mwaura said.
"You are someone I have backed before in this race but on this one...I think it is an ill-advised move," he added.
He further observed that Kenneth could lose terribly if he stiffens his bid into the August polls.
"You will lose only coming a distant third despite your impeccable credentials. You should have lived to fight another day," he noted.
Kenneth will face off with the incumbent governor Evans Kidero (ODM), Mike Sonko (Jubilee) and Miguna Miguna (Independent).
