Brian Njeri, 3, is said to have gone missing for about two hours before his body was found floating in the tank.

The mother of the boy, identified as Lucy Njeri, said her son was playing with his friends at the compound after school when he suddenly disappeared.

“Brian was with his friends playing outside the house when I realised he was missing and immediately started looking for him with the help of my neighbours and found him in the septic tank lifeless,” she said.

The desperate widow said that Brian was his only son and ever since her husband died, he has been her source of happiness and a reason to live.

“I don’t understand how my son was found in the septic tank because the area is well protected and has never posed any threat to anybody,” she wondered.

Shadrack Maithya, Thika west police boss, confirmed the incident and promised to carry out investigations to crack the whip on the perpetrators who allegedly did the inhuman act.

The OCPD said that there was no visible injuries seen on the child and soon they will apprehend those involved.

The body was taken to Thika Level Five hospital mortuary, pending a post-mortem examination.
