Residents of Katangi location in Machakos County were shocked on Wednesday after a body of a boy aged 13 years was found hanging from a tree.
The deceased identified as Peter Wambua was a class 4 pupil at Kikunyuni primary school in Yatta Sub-County.
Area OCPD Edward Changah confirmed the incident and said the body of the boy was discovered by a passerby who immediately alerted the police.
He said police have launched investigations to establish what led the boy to commit suicide.
The OCPD called on parents to counsel their children to prevent unnecessary deaths.
"Parents should guide their children and involve religious leaders to help solve any differences that arose in the family," said the OCPD.
