A 25-year-old man was Tuesday arraigned in a Kiambu Law Court for allegedly defiling a minor.
Samuel Kamau is the accused of defiling a Form Two student between March 3 and 6, 2015.
It is reported that the minor, who was meant to return to school after a mid-term break, alighted from the matatu that her mother had escorted her to and took another matatu that would lead her to her friend’s home in Ziwani.
It is here that she is said to have borrowed civilian clothes before leaving for the suspect’s home in Ruaka.
The accused, who is purported to be the minor’s boyfriend, allegedly committed the offence on March 4, three days before she returned home.
The minor was reportedly expelled from school for late coming prompting the mother to report the case to the police at Karuri police station who launched investigations into the matter.
During investigations a black shirt, which the minor is said to have borrowed from her friend was discovered in the suspect’s house. The accused and the victim were taken to Karuri Health Centre where they were examined. A P3 was issued and indicated that the doctor proved that she had been defiled.
The accused pleaded not guilty claiming the sex was consensual and that he did not know the girl was a minor despite knowing she was a student.
Principle Magistrate Charity Oluoch released the accused on a cash bail of Ksh200,000 with the hearing set for May 5, 2015.
