The body of an eight-year-old boy from Kimunyu, Gatundu South who disappeared in December last year has finally been found.
Dickson Kimenju, who is said to have had a mental problem at the time of disappearance, was found in Ndarugo River on Tuesday by residents.
"He had followed his elder sister who had gone to wash clothes at Ndarugo River but the sister did not see him. She only realised on returning home that her brother was not there," said Regina Muthoni, the boy's mother.
She added, "We have looked for him in hospitals, mortuaries and even reported to Gatundu Police Station to no avail. We recognised him because of the clothes he was wearing at that time."
The family was grateful to have found the body though in bad shape after being in water for that long saying they will now be able to rest.
Area OCPD Bernard Muli confirmed the incident where he said the body had been taken to the City Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
"There is a family that has claimed that the body belongs to their son and it will be released to them once the post-mortem is done," said Muli.
