[Photo/ citizentv.co.ke]Boys outdid their female counterparts in the race for top positions in this year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations in the Coast region.Four boys from Aga Khan High and Memon Academy Schools emerged among the best with performance indices of 80 aggregate points. Juzer Kassamali, Ibrahim Kalema Baraza, and Emmanuel Junior Kaburu scored A’s of 80’s points while Mohamed Mahmoud of Memon Academy also scored the same points.A total of 11 candidates including four boys and seven girls scored A’s from the Coast region to emerge among the top. Abdulbasit Fahad Abdalla of Memon Academy was the second in the school with a mean grade of A- of 79 points.Aga Khan High School Principal Mariam Lavingia admitted that the school performed poorly in terms of the mean grade but there was an exemplary improvement in the number of quality grades attain in the 2017 KCSE examinations.“Our KCSE results have improved quality-wise. We have six A-, 10 B+, 14 B, 19B- and 64 C+ and above compared to last year’s 3A-, 8B+, 56C+ and above,” she said, as quoted by the Nation.At Light Academy, which was ranked at position two nationally, Nurdin Kullow topped with A- of 79 points. The school had eight A-s, 10 B+, 4 B, 3 B- and 3 C+.Abu-Hureira Academy’s Abdirazak Mukhtar Ali scored A- of 79 points. Abdallah Mohamed Omar and Khadija Mohamed Yusuf came second with A- of 74 points. Dr Aggrey Boys High School was not left behind in term of good grades after four students Collins Odhiambo (A-, 76 points), Musembi Denis with A- (76 points) and Hussein Abdulrahman (A-, 75 points) made the school proud.Memom Academy High School was among the schools where girls excelled in this year’s exam. The school produced four girls who scored A- with 78 points. The four are Maarya Elyas Bachani, Khadija Salim Ghalgan, Fauzia Hadokutu and Ali, Tanzila Omar Jiin.Is there a newsworthy accident, incident or event happening in Mombasa County that you want Hivisasa to cover?
