Panic and grief struck students and teachers of St Andrews Kaggwa Boarding Primary School in Nyamira County on Monday evening after a fire razed a boys dormitory.
The pupils were taking supper when the fire broke out at around 6pm.
According to the sub-county Education director Mr Consumas Machur, students property was destroyed during the inferno.
"Its unfortunate that this happened. We will get to the bottom of the matter as soon as possible. We are asking for patience from all stakeholders."
Nyamira County Executive Member in charge of Education and ICT Mr Jones Omwenga who rushed to the scene said the fast rising wave of schools burning should be tamed.
"The cause of the fire should be known. Such incidents have affected most schools in our region and we should condemn it in the strongest term possible," said Omwenga.
