Customers of TEAMS cable are likely to experience slow internet speeds from tomorrow because of bandwidth constraints that will result from planned maintenance works.

The poor internet will be as a result of limited traffic restoration via other cable systems.

This planned cable reinforcement works is designed to increase security of the TEAMS cable against anchoring ships and external aggression following the proposed expansion of the UAE Port of Fujairah planned for July to August 2016.

The actual downtime of the system will be from July 20- 28. The works carried out after July 28, 2016 will not affect service.

TEAMS is a is an initiative spearheaded by the government of Kenya to link the country to the rest of the world through a submarine fibre optic cable. 

The shareholders in the TEAMS consortium include Government of Kenya, Safaricom, Telkom Kenya, Liquid Telecom Kenya, Jamii Telecom, Wananchi Telecom, Access Kenya Group and Bandwidth & Cloud Services Group.
