Junet's statement comes after rumours emerged that a number of ODM governors were opposed to party nominations insisting on direct party tickets.

And on Monday, the Suna East MP dismissed the rumours insisting that all party aspirants would be subjected to the same treatment and challenged those who were unwilling to quit the ODM.

“We do not accord anyone preferential treatment, not even our party leader. As long as there are aspirants yearning for the ticket for whichever post you are looking for, it’s mandatory that you go for nominations,” he said.

“Those who think we will treat them differently should start packing. The party candidates will be chosen by the people and nothing else. That is the only way to have fair representation that reflects the will of people,” he added.

His remarks were also echoed by party leader Raila Odinga among other leaders who attended the final day of Nyacheki ward by-election campaigns.
