Kirinyaga gubernatorial hopeful Anne Waiguru has promised former Gichugu MP Martha Karua a grueling political battle in the race for Kirinyaga's top seat during the forthcoming general elections.
Speaking on Saturday when she received her Jubilee Party ticket certificate, the former Devolution Cabinet Secretary vowed to trounce Karua, dismissing the former legislator's support for President Uhuru Kenyatta as "an attempt to hoodwink the electorate."
“We urge them to work with us campaign for the president. But (they should know) for all the seats in Kirinyaga, we will work night and day to ensure that we will give a six-piece suit in every ward to his Excellency the President,” she stated.
Waiguru beat the incumbent governor Joseph Ndathi alongside three other candidates to win the Jubilee Party ticket during the just concluded primaries.
She will be facing governor Ndathi again during the August polls, after the governor moved to seek re-election as an independent candidate.
Karua will be gunning for the seat on her Nark Kenya Party ticket after she declined to fold up her party and merge with Jubilee Party.
