Kenyan politicians are known to take advantage of any situation to sell their agenda, but this was not the case in Bungoma.
Mourners were left in deep shock after a man of God barred leaders who had attended a funeral service from addressing them.
Bishop Robert Magina of the Anglican Church of Kenya, Nambale Diocese, stopped Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka and other leaders at the service from speaking to the anxious mourners during the burial of the mother of Bumula MP Boniface Otsiula.
Drama started when the leaders at the function refused to heed to the bishop’s request not to campaign at the burial.
“I will not grant any chance to politicians to politicize this event. We want to give Mama Nasike a proper send-off.
"She was one of our great believers who participated in creating many churches around Nambale diocese,” the Bishop had said, as quoted by Nation.
The clergyman also said that politicians should organize their own rallies where they can talk about their agenda and not funeral services.
Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka, Woman Representative Reginalda Wanyonyi, MPs Benson Momanyi (Borabu), Dan Wanyama (Webuye West) and Patrick Wangamati (Nominated) were among the leaders who had attended the burial.
