"Mgala muue na haki umpe" is the most appropriate Swahili proverb one can use to describe what the president did yesterday.
He may have failed severally but he just got this right; allowing dialogue with the opposition.
In these times when the government and the opposition seem to be in a political competition, it was a bold step for Uhuru Kenyatta to give in to Cord demands.
He could have chosen to remain adamant but instead chose to come down to bring back sobriety in Kenya.
He couldn't have done it any better. With some people dead and others nursing injuries from the chaotic anti-IEBC demos, it was only wise to give in to dialogue so that no more blood is shed.
For the sake of innocent children and business people who have suffered from the demos, may Kenya know peace now.
In honour of those who died amidst the demos, may sobriety be restored. We really do not need to be chaotic for us to be heard.
Kenya is still a young nation and needs to be nurtured. If we opt for violence every time we want to express our views, we will never grow.
We must learn to embrace talk as the best way to discuss and solve all issues until an agreement is reached.
Blood must not be shed after which talks are initiated. And for Kenyans, why would you allow yourself to be used by the leaders?
One fails to understand why someone would engage in such chaotic demonstrations knowing very well you are at risk.
During that period when Cord followers demonstrated, none of the leaders died nor sustained injuries.
Why? Because they are fast to be evacuated when things get worse while the rest are left to save themselves!
Next time think twice before you follow the masses.
Think of what you will gain and weigh between what you are likely to lose. Your life is more precious yet somethings are not worth dying for.
