Eight people have been confirmed dead in a grisly road accident at Maembe Mbili, Nyakwere along the border of Kisumu and Homabay counties.

The Nissan was travelling from Homabay to Kisumu when it allegedly had a tyre burst making it to roll several times.

Most of those confirmed dead are students from different schools in the region.

According to an eyewitness, the killer matatu was speeding before the 1.30pm accident.

Those injured have been rushed to various hospitals in critical condition.
