Musician Achieng Abura has died at Kenyatta National Hospital.

The cause of her death is not yet very clear. The Afro-Jazz and Afro-fusion maestro passed on while in the hospital at the KNH private wing where she had been hospitalised from 13th October.

She passed on at 6pm on Thursday.

Reports from sources have, however, revealed the songbird had been ailing for some time. Most of her social media post where more concentrated on her health, at on time she posted that she had lost over 50kgs.

Her debut in music was in the year 1990 with a gospel album titled I believe. Other albums included way over yonder and Sulwe.

In 2002, when she had shifted to Afro-jazz, she released album Maisha. Later she released album spirit of a warrior.

She is also the voice behind crow from Tinga Tinga Tales, an animation program on a popular Kenyan television.

On Wednesday, fellow songbird and friend Suzzana Owiyo had paid her a visit and described her condition as unstable. 

“It is unfortunate that we have lost one of the local greatest talent. May God rest her soul in peace,” said Ms Owiyo from Mombasa.
