The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has directed all political parties to hold primaries between April 13 and 26.
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) had set its nomination dates for today, April 7.
IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati said on Friday that the nominations will be held after gazettement of aspirants' names.
The elections agency also wants parties to submit lists of all nominees by May 10.
ODM leader Raila Odinga had rubbished the IEBC condition, saying the commission has no business interfering in the affairs of political parties.Raila said the primaries will continue as scheduled.The ODM primaries are to start in Bungoma, Machakos and Busia today.Chebukati said all stakeholders, including political parties, should condemn violence and encourage members to desist from any conduct likely to cause trouble.
