Bodies belonging to the four people who drowned in Enziu river in Mwingi, Kitui County three weeks ago, have been retreived.
The bodies were found stuck in sand on Tuesday after 21 days of tireless search.
The multi-prong operations comprised of disaster units drawn from Kitui County Government, the Kenya Red Cross Society and National Youth Service.
Benard Mwela, the officer in charge of emergency services in Kitui County Government confirmed the incident.
Mwela said the retrieved bodies belong to the four occupants of the probox that was swept away by flood waters three weeks ago.
"The four people were headed for a burial ceremony when the tragedy striked," Mwela said.
Mwela said the bodies belonging to two men and two women had been moved to Mwinhi Level Four Hospital's mortuary.
He said families of the deceased persons had been notified of their kins bodies' retrieval.
Mwela said the search for the remaining body of a form four candidate who drowned in the same river was ongoing.
