The body belonging to the 17-year-old boy has finally been retrieved from River Enziu in Mwingi East, Kitui County.
The deceased's body was retrieved from the river waters on Tuesday.
The Kitui County Government's emergency department has been leading in operations to retrieve the body of the boy who drowned in the river a month ago.
The officer in charge of the department, Bernard Mwela, confirmed the incident.
Mwela said both the National Youth Service (NYS) and National Emergency Unit (NEU) have equally been helping in the operations.
He revealed that they had managed to get the upper part of the body.
Mwela said they were working tirelessly to retrieve the remaining part.
This comes barely a week after four other bodies were retrieved from the same river.
The four drowned while they were headed to a burial after their car was swept away by the waters following a heavy downpour.
The boy's remains were removed to Mwingi Level Four Hospital's mortuary by police officers.
