Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati has been summoned by a Nairobi Court to give evidence on suicide case concerning politician Solomon Gichira.
Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi issued the summonses on Thursday after all the witnesses failed to appear in court.
The witnesses, the court was told, were attending a seminar in Mombasa.
"I, therefore, seek summonses to all witnesses in this case, including Chebukati (Wafula), to appear in court on the next hearing date," Magistrate Andayi ordered.
Gichira, an independent presidential aspirant in the August 8 general elections, was arrested after he attempted to jump through the window of Anniversary Towers in Nairobi, which houses the IEBC.
The incident happened on May 27, 2017.
The former presidential aspirant was on May 29, 2017, charged with causing a disturbance, destroying IEBC property worth Sh134, 386 and attempting to kill himself.
He is also accused of damaging an internet socket, a window, an air conditioner machine and an aluminum window at the sixth floor of Anniversary Towers.
