The High Court has barred the government from arresting, charging and prosecuting Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.
This comes after the governor sued the Inspector-General of Police, Director of Criminal Investigation, the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Attorney-General, and obtained orders preventing them from undertaking the said actions against him.
In his ruling on Friday, Justice Eric Ogolla ordered the Kenya Revenue Authority, Kenya National Examinations Council and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations against infringing on Joho's constitutional rights.
The three institutions have also been ordered not to investigate, intimidate question or harass the county boss over his academic qualifications.
KNEC had accused Joho of forging his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificate, allegations that Joho has since denied.
Justice Ogolla said he had found that Mr Joho's application disclosed intention to destroy his governorship and certified the application as urgent, the Nation reports.
