Dagoretti South Member of Parliament Dennis Waweru has withdrawn his candidature for the Nairobi Governor post.

Waweru has presented nomination papers to the Jubilee Party to defend his parliamentary seat come August 8.

His withdrawal leaves Jubilee's Peter Kenneth, Mike Sonko and Margaret Wanjiru in the race for the party's ticket.

Another candidate still in the race to unseat Governor Evans Kidero is lawyer Miguna Miguna.

Nairobi politics within the Jubilee party have reached boiling point temperatures, with candidates going for the nominations declining to relinquish their ambitions.

The contest for the Jubilee ticket is clearly between Senator Sonko and former Gatanga MP Kenneth.

The rift between them has played out in public in the past recent days, with Kenneth on Thusday saying he will not engage Sonko in any talks.

Earlier last week, Sonko accused Kenneth of disrespecting the President back in 2013.

He said he cannot step down for Kenneth.
