Yvonne Wamalwa, widow to Kenya's 7th Vice President Michael Kijana Wamalwa has reportedly passed on.
Although little known, Ms Wamalwa first came into public limelight in 2003 when her husband passed on in London.
For decades now, Yvonne has kept a low public profile, she however served as Deputy Permanant Representative of Kenya to United Nations Habitat after the death of her husband.
Family sources say that she died in her sister's home in Nanyuki and plans are in place to airlift the body to Nairobi's Lee Funeral home.
At Wamalwa's funeral in Kitale, Yvonne featured prominently due to controversy surrounding the late VP's private marital affairs.
Wamalwa, a leading opposition figure in 90s, was one of the founder of Ford Kenya with veteran politician Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.
He actually inherited Ford Kenya leadership upon senior Odinga's death in 1994, a move that sparked internal wrangales with Raila Odinga.
In 2002, he ran as Mwai Kiaki's deputy under NARC coalition which managed to topple independence party KANU from power.
The course of the death still remains mysterious with the family set to address the press later on Thursday.
