In a statement read out today by Tongaren's MP David Eseli Simiyu, the party bemoaned the turn of events, saying that it does not augur well for democracy.

It blamed ODM for demonising the leadership of NASA

''The Party is also alive to the divisive machinations orchestrated by one of the partners ODM who have taken upon themselves to ridicule and demonise the other coalition partners. As a party, we take great exception to this turn of events especially those targeting the leadership structures in both houses of parliament. Ford Kenya wishes to express its unequivocal support for Moses Masika Wetangula as the Leader of the Minority in the Senate. The developments do not augur well for the often stated need for inclusivity nor do they provide hope for future comprehensive checks and balances nor oversight over the executive as is supposed to be performed by the Minority ...'' part of the statement read.

While expressing its support for a national dialogue, the party vowed to focus on checking the government of the day and ODM to account.

The development adds a layer of complexity to the confusion rocking the opposition coalition and adds more fuel to fears that NASA is on its deathbed.
