A senior ICT Manager at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has been reported missing.Chris Msando is said to have gone missing Friday night and his family now says they cannot trace his whereabouts.
While issuing a statement over his absence, IEBC said it is working closely with the police to find his whereabouts.
“One of our ICT Managers has gone missing. The Commission is working with police and family to establish his whereabouts,” IEBC said in a tweet.
According to the commission's Chairman Wafula Chebukati, the acting ICT director was last seen Friday night and the last communication he made was through a text message.
“The last communication from him is an SMS text sent to one of his colleagues at around 3am on Saturday morning. The content of the SMS suggests that he was conscious and fully aware of his itinerary for that day,” said Chebukati.
This could be a huge blow to IEBC since Msando was set to lead a dry-run programme on Monday to demonstrate how the transmission of results would be done on August 8.
Msando is said to be among the few IEBC staff members with knowledge of the commission's servers.
