[Photo|Daily Nation]The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has postponed election in four counties of the Luo Nyanza region.The counties include Kisumu, Homa Bay, Siaya, and Migori.Wafula Chebukati, said the elections would be held on Saturday 28.Addressing the press during an update on the state of the election, Chebukati cited security concerns in the said counties, after residents turned violent, barricading roads using stones and bonfires, preventing ferrying of election materials.Chebukati, Thursday, said the Commission was doing everything to ensure the voting exercise goes on smoothly, adding that government had assured heightened security.During the postponement, Chebukati said he had the constitutional powers to postpone an election in any part of the country.
In Homa Bay, one person was shot dead, as rowdy youth engaged police in running battles, leaving several others injured.In Siaya, no polling station was opened, as youth stayed vigilant to ensure no voting material is deployed.In Kisumu, rowdy youth also engaged police in running battles at Kondele, and ensure no voting takes place.
