Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has cancelled a rally that was to take place in Kibera, Nairobi this afternoon.
The ODM deputy party leader said the move was to allow the Budget reading, adding that it is a national function.
"A new date for the rally will be announced after consultations with party leadership and Nairobi leaders," said Joho’s communications manager, Richard Chacha in a statement.
He continued, “We ask our supporters to remain steadfast as we march to remove the autocratic Jubilee regime from power and restore nationhood by NASA.”
A furious Joho on Wednesday that he will hold the Kibera rally to “tell the truth” over his ongoing woes.
He made the remarks after he was quizzed at the Mombasa police headquarters for allegedly forging his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination certificate.
A day before the questioning by CID detectives, Joho said he is proud of the D- he scored in 1993 KCSE exams.
The governor is accused of forging a KCSE certificate indicating he scored a C+.
He was accompanied by opposition leaders, Siaya Senator and lawyer James Orengo, woman representative Mishi Mboko, Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi and secretary general Agnes Zani (Nominated Senator) to the police headquarters.
