A Jubilee Party MP has filed a petition at the Supreme Court to remove Chief Justice David Maraga.
Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu, who led a team of Mouth Kenya professionals in filling the case, wants the head of the Judiciary to be removed from office.Mr Wambugu filed the petition before the Judicial Service Commission. This comes weeks after the court nullified the presidential election results. When asked why he was only targeting Maraga Wambugu said: “Maraga is the chief justice and had undue influence on the Supreme Court judges.”The petition will be forwarded to the chief justice, who will form a team that will look into the allegations. In a 4-2 decision, the Supreme Court judges ruled to nullify the outcome of the presidential election, because of the illegalities that the judges said affected the election. A repeat election is set for October 17.
