The oldest party in Kenya's political history has resolved to back president Uhuru Kenyatta's presidential bid.
Kanu secretary general Nick Salat noted the National Executive members agreed to support president Uhuru, as he seeks the second term in office, come August 8.
The party had announced it would neither back Uhuru or the Opposition, but field its own presidential candidate.
However, Salat has severally been atending Opposition political rallies, saying party was part of the Opposition's agendas.
Salat was addressing the press at a Nakuru lodge, after a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting, Thursday.
The resolution follows recent president Uhuru Kenyatta's visit to former president Daniel arap Moi, who is the father to Kanu chairmn, Baringo senator Gideon Moi.
It is believed Uhuru asked Moi to request Kanu, to back his bid.
Also present during the meeting were Moi, Nominated senator Zipporah Kittony among other Kanu top officials.
