Kenya football fraternity suffered a major blow on Sunday following the untimely death of Evans Mohammed, a veteran player and coach to various football clubs.
Popularly known as Amanaka, Mr. Mohammed passed on at his Getare home on Saturday and was subsequently buried in line with Islamic religion.
In a statement issued by Shabana FC, Mohammed died on Saturday after a long illness at his home.
"He passed on at his Getare home on Saturday and has since been laid to rest according to Islamic practices," read the statement.
"Mohammed, a legend in our club, has been unwell since 2013. His death is a big loss to local teams which have been depending on him."
Before his death, Mohammed coached the former footaball giants Shabana FC and Bayern FC, which have dominated Gusii football.
Until his death, Mohammed was coach to Hema Moja FC, which plays in FKF Second Division. He has been described as a 'mentor and a master of the game'.
