A middle aged man has died in a road accident at Kangundo, Machakos County.

The boda boda operator died on the spot after his motorbike collided head on with a pick up in Airport area along the Nairobi - Kangundo Road on Tuesday morning.

According to an eye witness, the deceased who was transporting Avocado was headed to Tala town while the pick up was moving towards opposite direction when the incident occurred.

The boda boda operator died on the spot while the the pickup's driver sustained minor injuries.

Addressing the press in Tala on Tuesday, the Kangundo Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairperson Nduku Soda said the Kenya National Highways Authority should ensure bumps are erected on the road to prevent accidents.

 “The road construction is ongoing and has no bumps thus contributing to accidents," Nduku said.

She urged boda boda operators to be vigilant on the road and be wary of other road users to avoid accidents.

The deceased's body was moved to Kangundo Level Four Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem.

Wreckage of both the pick-up and motorbike were towed to Kangundo Police Station.

Police have launched investigations into the incident.
