Three people died on Saturday night while several others sustained serious injuries after the vehicles they were travelling in were involved in a head-on collision accident along the Machakos-Masii Road at Mikuyuni in Mwala Sub-county.
The accident involved a 14-seater matatu and a personal car of Premio make.
The personal car driver was among the people who died on the spot with his two other passengers also perishing.
Confirming this accident, Mwala OCPD Henry Kimathi said that the two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision after losing control.
He said that the 14-seater vehicle was heading to Tawa from Machakos while the personal car was heading to Machakos from Masii.
Kimathi warned drivers plying on that road to be vigilant while driving as the road is very narrow and repair works are in progress.
The injured were rushed to Machakos level five hospital and the bodies of those who lost their lives were taken to Machakos hospital mortuary.
