Police, KRA blocked from accessing AFRICOG offices in Lavington. [Photo/Citizen TV]Acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has come to the rescue of AfriCOG, and KHRC, the two NGOs have been experiencing a standoff with the NGO coordination board.
In a letter from Matiang'i to NGO coordination board Fazul Mahamed, the CS said he has received a lot of concerns and petitions from stakeholders and ordered that comprehensive engagements need to happen before any action is taken against the two organisations.
"I direct the Principal Secretary, Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Security to immediately form an inclusive and representative committee to investigate the matter," said Matiang'i.
"In the meantime, I direct that while this is happening you suspend any action on these organisations for upto90 days," adds the letter in part.
The letter came in a few hours after the KRA and police raided the AfriCOG offices in Lavington.
