Immigration boss Gordon Kihalangwe has now surrendered Miguna Miguna’s passport at the high court in Nairobi. The court had ordered that the passport be brought to the court within 7 days.

Miguna, who was deported to Canada after the government 'realised' he had not reapplied to become a citizen after the 2010 constitution, has been a fierce critic of the Uhuru Kenyatta administration.

After administering the oath that Raila Odinga took as the 'people's president' during the controversial swearing-in ceremony three weeks ago, Miguna was arrested and charged with treason.

He has vowed to return in Kenya after the high court said his deportation was not done properly. The government has appealed the decision at the court of appeal.
