Days after her school was implicated of rape scandal, Moi Girls School principal Jael Mureithi has opted for early retirement, reports The Nation.
After over ten years in charge, Mrs. Mureithi is said to have officially written to her employer, TSC, over the decision to quit.
Florence Omusula, a long serving deputy, has taken over in an acting capacity.
Detectives from the DCI under which serious crimes fall, said eight male teachers had their DNA samples taken for further analysis to aid in the rape probe.
On Saturday morning, news about raping of a Form 2 girl and attempted rape of several others hit news headlines across the country.
Also, Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed had sacked the institution's Board of Management over the matter.
The institution was closed down by the minister amid claims that the management had instructed students to take shower to tamper with evidence.
Mrs. Mureithi becomes the third high profile principal to opt out of officer over sexual harassment related cases after Paul Otula (Maseno School) and David Kariuki of Alliance High School.
