Joho left for a two-day official visit following official invitation from the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"I am delighted and honored to begin a 2 day official visit which seeks to further strengthen the existing warm and cordial relations between the people of Estonia and the people of Mombasa," he said.

The visit also seeks to fortify the relationship to tangible cooperation through technology and technical skills exchange to further improve the County's business processes, improve revenue collection systems and mainstream efficiency and accountability through advanced automation.

The hallmark of his visit, Joho noted was to expand Mombasa County's Smart City initiatives.

"However, my interest was captured by the open governance solutions that Estonia has been practicing and that have been promoted globally by e-Governance Academy."

While in Estonia, the governor indicated his intention was also to find sustainable solutions to pressing issues in Mombasa, that it has successfully handled.

They include solutions to a thriving business landscape, a clean environment and citizens participation in governance, ownership of challenges facing them and their constructive participation in developing sustainable solutions.
