Three IEBC commissioners have resigned faulting their chairman Mr Wafula Chebukati for failing to lead the commission.
The Vice-chair of IEBC Connie Maina, Paul Kurgat, and Margaret Mwachanya are the three commissioners who have thrown in the towel.
The unexpected resignation of the three commissioners comes in on the day that Chebukati had set a crisis meeting with his team to establish solutions to the issues facing the IEBC in recent days.
"Chair versus CEO failure is considered as a failure of the entire commission, the institution has continued to be dysfunctional due to the arbitrary decisions without consulting and leaking of internal information to the public," said Mwachanya.
"For far too long the commission chair has failed to be a stable hand," she added.
According to Mwachanya who spoke on the behalf of the other two commissioners, the faulted Chebukati of poor leadership.
In recent days the electoral body has been facing internal tension after the sending of CEO Ezra Chiloba to a compulsory three months leave leading to break out among the commissioners.
