A day after issuing a cracking press conference on October 26th planned polls, Airport MCA Ibrahim Omondi alias Bomoa has been arrested by suspected police officers.
On Thursday, Omondi, a close ally of Raila Odinga, insisted that he will do ‘all he can’ to ensure Mombasa residents do not take part in presidential repeat poll.
His wife, Josephine Omondi, confirmed the incident adding that the suspected police declined to reveal the police station he was to be taken to.
“They came at 5am this morning and asked us to open the door. They arrested him and declined to reveal where they were taking him to,” she told reporters.
Mrs. Omondi added: “Until now, I do not know where to follow him to because they left hastily. I am in darkness because I don’t know where he is.”
During the press conference, Omondi warned that he will ensure elections are stopped should IEBC proceed with the plans.
“We are not going to have elections and we shall ensure they are stopped. Uhuru Kenyatta should be careful and he should know he is just a caretaker president,” he said.
Although opposition leader Raila Odinga bowed out of the race, the government has insisted that the elections will go on as planned.
Until going to the press, police are yet to confirm the incident which could spark yet another heated political debate given that the coastal county is a perceived opposition stronghold.
